On the same day, two super large diameter shield machines simultaneously turned the cutterhead at both ends of the Jintang undersea tunnel of the newly built Ningbo Zhoushan Railway (Ningbo Zhoushan Railway), marking the official opening of shield tunneling for the longest undersea high-speed railway tunnel in China.

The Jintang subsea tunnel starts from Beilun District, Ningbo City in the west and ends at Jintang Town, Zhoushan City in the east, with a total length of 16.18 kilometers, of which the shield section is 11.21 kilometers long, crossing Jintang Waterway, which is a control project of the whole line of Ningbo Zhoushan Railway.

Ningbo Zhouzhou Railway starts from Ningbo East Railway Station in the west and ends at Baiquan Town, Dinghai District in the east. It has 7 stations, with a total length of about 76.4 kilometers and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The completion of the project will end the history of no access to railways in Zhoushan Islands, which is of great significance for improving the layout of the railway network and promoting the integration and urban integration of Ningbo Zhoushan.
