At the press conference on the same day, Ashtok said that preliminary information showed that the assassination was obviously politically motivated, and "we are doing everything possible to investigate this heinous act".

At the same time, Ashtok called for an end to the spread of politically motivated hate speech and said that he would ensure the safety of government officials, the opposition and the media.

Earlier in the day, Fizo was shot after holding a government meeting in the Trenchin region of the country, and the gunmen fired many shots at him. The gunman is a male and has been controlled.

After the incident, Slovak President Japtova strongly condemned the attack and hoped that Fizo would recover as soon as possible.
