People's Daily Online, Berlin, April 25 (reporter Xu Xin) On April 25 local time, the "2024 China EU Automotive Industry Development Forum" was held in Munich, Germany. The forum was hosted by the International Development and Innovation Alliance of Chinese Automobile Enterprises and undertaken by CAIC Research Europe Testing and Certification Co., Ltd. 120 representatives from Chinese and European government agencies, industry associations, scientific research institutions and enterprises exchanged views on the development of China's and Europe's automobile markets and cutting-edge technology trends, and discussed how to promote the transformation and green development of China's and Europe's automobile industries.

Tong Defa, Consul General of China in Munich, Lu Mei, General Manager of China Automotive Technology Research Center Co., Ltd., and Marcus Borisi, General Manager of the German Automobile Industry Association attended the event and delivered speeches.

Tong Defa pointed out that the global new energy industry is in its infancy, and the future demand for related products is huge, and the current capacity is far from being met. The rapid development of China's new energy industry is the embodiment of multiple advantages in technology, market, supply chain, etc., and the development achievements achieved through fair competition. We welcome more foreign enterprises to share China's advantages and make contributions to the global response to climate change and green transformation. Tong Defa said that the in-depth cooperation between China and Germany in the automotive industry is in line with the common interests of both countries and is a strong support for the transformation of the global automotive industry. China will, as always, welcome enterprises from all countries and regions to invest and start businesses in China and provide them with cooperation opportunities.

In her speech, Lu Mei reviewed the history of China EU auto industry cooperation over the past 40 years. Europe is the most mature automobile market in the world. European automobile enterprises have been deeply involved in the Chinese market for decades and actively participated in and witnessed the process of China's automobile industry. As China's second largest trading partner, Europe is also a strategic highland for Chinese automobile enterprises to go to sea. With complementary advantages in the automobile industry, the two sides have broad space for cooperation and common interests, and have already formed a pattern of "you have me, I have you". Lu Mei said that this forum, based on the principle of openness and inclusiveness and the concept of joint construction and sharing, has built a high-level dialogue platform for China EU automotive industry, built a communication bridge for the automotive industry chain of both sides, and promoted China EU automotive industry cooperation to a new height.

Boris said that Volkswagen entered China more than 40 years ago and was the first automobile company to set up a joint venture in China. Now China has become the world's largest automobile market, showing a strong momentum of development in the field of new energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles. For German auto companies, China is not only an important sales market, but also an important source of innovation, which is one of the reasons why German auto companies continue to increase their investment in China. In 2014, the German Automobile Industry Association set up an office in Beijing to adhere to and maintain the open market and fair competition. Boris said that the global automotive industry is currently at a critical stage of transformation, and the development of new energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles, is still facing technical challenges. The cooperation between China and the European automotive industry is particularly important.

Representatives from Chinese and European government institutions, scientific research institutions, vehicle and testing enterprises shared their practical experience at the forum. China Automotive Research Europe Testing and Certification Co., Ltd., TUV South Germany Group, Idec APL and Guoxuan High tech signed a series of cooperation agreements.
