Chen Shi said, "The supervisor at that time said that you should improve yourself. Since then, I began to learn relevant knowledge, from preliminary preparation to script polishing, lens use, lighting use, director scheduling, editing, and so on. ”Later, this debut film, titled "Returning from Home", was broadcast on the Internet, and was also shortlisted in the Toronto Film Festival, the Bee Shadow Dream Making Film Exhibition, etc. This gave him great encouragement and made him firmly confident that he would go on the way of directing.

The work is scolded and does not shrink. The frugal life is just a dream

After high school, Chen Shi went to Beijing, Hengdian and other places to study. After entering the university, he began to work as a lighting assistant and photography assistant in the production team. In addition to going to Beijing for further study, he also often watches movies. For a time, he watched five or six movies every day. Although his works were scolded and satirized by netizens, they did not make him shrink back. "For a movie, some people must say good, some people say bad. Even if there is only one audience, I will persist."

Chen Shi is frugal in life, so he chooses cheap space capsule for accommodation. "This business is very tiring and hard, but it is meaningful. I know a lot of friends. He got up at 2:00 a.m. to shoot the demolition of Xiting Village and recorded many warm scenes. He followed him for a month and finally completed the documentary "Village". This documentary was shortlisted for the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival, the first Wazi Video Week, etc.

"This is my first time to shoot a commercial film in Xiamen, and the rest are short films, which should be taken into consideration from the early preparation to shooting and production." Chen Shi said that during the process of shooting "Wood in the Mountain, Wood in the Wood", the budget was not very sufficient, and everything should be carefully planned, and venue leasing and even a box lunch should be considered comprehensively. He often used his household items as props at the scene. This time, he took six or seven sets of quilts from his home.

Chen Shi revealed that 80% of the scenes in the film were shot in Jimei. "Many places have shot in Shili Causeway, Jimei New Town, Xinglinwan Reservoir, Yannei Village, Xinglin Village, Guankou and so on."
