A school, a teacher, a student... Chen Jianguo, who has been standing on the podium of the Mangmang Mountain for 36 years, continues to watch the mountain and his original intention of teaching and educating people.

Chen Jianguo, 58, is the only teacher at Shangchanggang Teaching Center in Lingtian Town, Lingchuan County, Guangxi. At the age of one and a half, he was disabled by polio. In 1988, after becoming a teacher, he returned to Shangchanggang Teaching Center in Lingtian Town, Lingchuan County, where he had studied in the first and second grades of primary school, and has not left for 36 years.

Shangchanggang teaching site in Lingtian Town is located in the mountains of northeast Guangxi. There were 9 teachers and more than 180 students in this teaching site when there were most teachers and students. In 2015, with the number of students decreasing year by year, other teachers have been transferred, and Chen Jianguo chose to stay here to teach a few students. Last semester, there was only one 7-year-old student here. Chen Jianguo continued to stay and came to the teaching site from his home 3 kilometers away to teach this student every day.

It will be two years before he retires. Looking back on 36 years of perseverance, Chen Jianguo has no regrets. He said, "It is my greatest wish to stick to the mountain and let more children go out of the mountain."
