Introduction to Nantong

Outstanding people and a long history. According to the textual research of ancient cultural sites, as far back as the Neolithic Age more than 5000 years ago, there were primitive clans and tribes in Qingdun area of Hai'an in the territory. In today's urban area, a county was set up during the Five Dynasties, called Jinghai. In the fifth year of Xiande of the later Zhou Dynasty (958 AD), Tongzhou was built as a city and named Tongzhou. In the first year of Song Tiansheng (1023), it was renamed Chongzhou, also known as Chongchuan. After the Revolution of 1911, the state was abolished and a county was set up, which was called Nantong County and "the first city in modern China". After the liberation of Nantong in February 1949, Nantong was divided into urban areas, Langshan and Tianshenggang. It was successively under the jurisdiction of Subei Administrative Office and Nantong Regional Special Office, and was changed into a provincial city in 1962. In 1983, Nantong District merged with Nantong City and implemented the system of city governing county. A galaxy of talents and talents has emerged in large numbers. Fan Zhongyan, Wang Anshi, Mi Fu, Wen Tianxiang and many other famous artists left their works in Nantong
