Datang Gaojing Thermal Power Plant 2016 Enterprise Open Day -- Look at the historical changes and leapfrog transformation of the old power plant from "coal" to "gas"

Asia Europe Energy network Beijing, August 10 (Suo Wei) When walking into a factory, you can deeply feel its historical background, be shocked by its contrast between the old and the new, and be gratified by its green turn, which is the most intuitive feeling of reporters on Datang Group's Enterprise Open Day in 2016.

On the 10th, China Datang Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Datang Group") held the 2016 Enterprise Open Day activity in Datang Gaojing Thermal Power Plant, which is the 10th Enterprise Open Day activity held by Datang Group since 2007. It is understood that the main venue of Datang Group's first Enterprise Open Day is in Datang Takai.

On the opening day of Datang Gaojing Thermal Power Plant, more than 100 visitors from all walks of life were received. Among them, there are 93 people, including leaders of Datang Group, residents of Gaojing Community and Guangning Street, officers and soldiers of the Army Headquarters, family members and retired employees of Gaojing Thermal Power Plant. In addition, journalists from media at all levels also came to Datang Gaojing.

On the open day, the whole visit lasted about one and a half hours. Through listening to the reports from the leaders of Datang Group and Takai Thermal Power Plant, we visited the history museum of Takai Thermal Power Plant, the coal-fired units and their main control rooms that have been shut down, the gas units in service and their main control rooms, etc, The visitors saw the leaping transformation and historical changes of Takai Thermal Power Plant from coal to gas in the past ten years.

In Gaojing Thermal Power Plant, the three chimneys with a history of about 50 years, which were once laughingly called "three sticks of incense in Beijing" in the old plant area, no longer smoke. The old coal-fired units are quietly displayed in the workshop, and the damaged iron sheet on the unit and the tarpaulin covered with dust are telling of the past glory.

Founded in 1959, when the industry was backward and the foundation was weak, Gaojing Thermal Power Plant is one of the 156 key construction projects supported by the Soviet Union in the first five-year plan of the country. It has the first high-temperature high-pressure 100000 kilowatt steam turbine generator set designed and manufactured by China, and was once the most advanced large-scale thermal power plant in China, accounting for 1/3 of the power generation capacity of the capital.  

On July 23, 2014, Gaojing Thermal Power Plant shut down all six coal-fired units in order to reduce the annual coal consumption of the city from 23 million tons to 10 million tons by 2017, as proposed in the Beijing Coal Reduction Action Plan. So far, in 55 years, the coal-fired units of Gaojing Thermal Power Plant have completed a cumulative power generation of 1997 billion kilowatt hours and heat supply of 56.42 million GJ, which has been responsible for the heat supply of important units such as Western Beijing and Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. On October 12, 2014, three 1.38 million kilowatt gas turbine units were put into operation.

Data shows that, up to now, compared with the emissions of coal-fired units in 2013, sulfur dioxide emissions have been reduced by 519.5 tons and 89.6%, nitrogen oxide emissions by 923.2 tons and 72.1%, smoke emissions by 182.9 tons and 78.4%, and emission concentrations by 93.7%, 82.8% and 87.8% respectively.

In the new plant area, the noise of the gas turbine unit and the high automation of its main control room are in sharp contrast to the silence and obsolescence of the old plant area.

Liu Zhihui, the director of Datang Gaojing Thermal Power Plant, introduced that Gaojing Thermal Power Plant after "coal" was replaced by "gas" was the first to use the PG9371FB gas turbine with large capacity and high efficiency in Asia, and for the first time to carry out domestic application of its supporting waste heat boiler and the first 320MW fully air-cooled generator unit. The technology of expanding economizer is adopted, and SSS clutch is installed between low-pressure cylinder and intermediate pressure cylinder of steam turbine, which effectively improves the utilization rate of primary energy. After the unit is put into operation, the annual average gross thermal efficiency reaches 71.5%, and the efficiency under summer conditions reaches 59.5%, nearly 60% higher than 38% of coal-fired units; Heating condition reaches 88.3%, 76% higher than 50% of coal-fired units. Three 350 MW gas steam combined cycle cogeneration units with a total installed capacity of 1380 MW, a heating capacity of 962 MW, a heating area of 19.24 million square meters higher than the previous 12 million square meters, and an average annual power generation of 6.2 billion kWh can meet the heat supply of nearly 200000 households. The unit efficiency and waste heat boiler technology have reached the world's advanced level, Realize clean, efficient and energy substitution.

At the same time, the project also cooperated with the Asian Development Bank to build a demonstration device with a capture capacity of 5 tons/day to carry out carbon capture and storage technology research for gas power plants, taking unit flue gas carbon dioxide as the research object, becoming the first demonstration project in the world to carry out CCS (carbon capture) technology research for gas power plants. Through the joint implementation of the above design projects, Gaojing gas cogeneration project can reduce about 1350 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, 2200 tons of nitrogen oxide emissions, 1.95 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and almost zero smoke and dust emissions compared with coal-fired units with the same power generation capacity and equipped with desulfurization and denitrification devices.

When talking about the benefits of Gaojing Thermal Power Plant after "coal" was replaced by "gas", He Zhiyong, secretary of the Party Committee of Gaojing Thermal Power Plant, said that the benefits were not as good as before, basically in the state of "meager profits". When the power generation reached 4500 hours per year, it could ensure no loss. He Zhiyong said that although gas is expensive, its energy efficiency is high. After the gas steam combined cycle, the cycle efficiency can theoretically reach 90%. One cubic meter of standard natural gas can generate more electricity, which is consistent with the original intention of Beijing Tianjin Tangshan integration and green efficiency.
