Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 1 (Reporter Jiang Lin) According to the latest data from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, as of the end of March, the number of people covered by basic old-age insurance, unemployment insurance and work-related injury insurance in China had reached 1.07 billion, 240 million and 290 million respectively, an increase of 14.34 million, 4.49 million and 5.58 million respectively year on year.
In the face of the complex external development environment, since this year, the human resources and social security departments have made efforts to secure the bottom line of people's livelihood. In the first quarter, local governments implemented the basic old-age insurance support policy for urban and rural residents, and paid premiums for 8.21 million people living on subsistence allowances, returning to poverty, severely disabled people and other disadvantaged groups; Unemployment insurance benefits, such as unemployment insurance benefits, basic medical insurance premiums and temporary price subsidies, were 28.2 billion yuan.
Social insurance funds operated smoothly. From January to March, the total income of the three social insurance funds for basic pension, unemployment and work-related injury was 2.2 trillion yuan, and the total expenditure was 1.8 trillion yuan. At the end of March, the cumulative balance was 8.6 trillion yuan. The supervision, management and investment operation of social security funds have been continuously strengthened. By the end of March, the entrusted investment scale of the national basic pension insurance fund was 1.9 trillion yuan.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said that the next step would be to study and improve the supporting policies of the personal pension system, and make preparations for the comprehensive promotion. As for the pilot project of occupational injury protection for new employment, as of the end of March, the number of insured persons had reached 8017000.
