Chang'e-6 mission is scheduled to launch on May 3

The reporter learned from the National Space Administration on May 1 that the Chang'e-6 mission of the fourth phase of the lunar exploration project is scheduled to launch on May 3 after the comprehensive research and decision of the project mission headquarters.

At present, preparations for the mission are progressing steadily at Wenchang Space Launch Site, China. The Long March 5 Yao-8 carrier rocket carrying out the launch is about to be filled with propellant. This is the second time that the Long March 5 carrier rocket will launch the lunar exploration project. It will transport the Chang'e-6 probe to the earth moon transfer orbit to implement the sampling and return mission on the back of the moon.

The launch window refers to the time range suitable for rocket launch. On the basis of comprehensive consideration of the position relationship between the earth and the moon and other factors, the engineering team applied the "narrow window multi orbit" launch technology to design a total of 10 lunar trajectories for the rocket in a window of 50 minutes a day for two consecutive days.
