On the evening of May 7, GAC Ai'an announced that Thailand's localized production had made key progress, and its Thai factory 185 bonded area signed an agreement.
This means that after the approval of bonded area 185, the import tariff of all production parts will be reduced from 11% to 0; In addition, the electric vehicles produced in the bonded area enjoy the same tariff exemption treatment and customs clearance convenience as the domestic electric vehicles, which is an important precondition to ensure the localized production in Southeast Asia.
Ai'an said that it took four months from the application to the approval of the bonded zone, which is currently the fastest bonded factory in Thailand's electric vehicle industry.
This is also the first bonded factory of GAC Group overseas. The approval of the bonded area is a particularly critical step in the localization strategy of Aian Thailand. Ai'an said that the Thai factory will further play the logistics distribution function of parts and vehicles in Southeast Asia, and comprehensively consolidate the strategic layout of "Thailand+Indonesia" dual factories of GAC Ai'an.
Public information shows that the Ai'an Thailand factory officially started in January this year, with a total investment of 2.3 billion Baht and a design annual capacity of 50000 units. The first phase of the project is planned to be completed in July this year. At that time, Haobo's products will be gradually introduced according to the needs of the Thai market.
At present, Ai'an continues to invest heavily in Thailand. In March this year, Ai'an said that it planned to set up a Thailand R&D office in April in cooperation with GAC Research Institute. At the same time, in terms of energy supplement network, Haobo will build a 15km radius charging network in the Greater Bangkok District; It is planned to build 15 charging stations this year and 100 fast charging stations by 2028.
