At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, which just ended, the self owned brand booth has become the "traffic C". Behind the high popularity, the sales volume of self owned brands kept breaking new records. The China Automobile Association said that "half of the country can no longer hold the strength of Chinese brands". "Independent Five Tigers" is undoubtedly the key force to promote the continuous improvement of the overall market share of Chinese brands. Among them, BYD is about to break through one million vehicles, and Chery has maintained a rapid growth trend.

Dongfeng autonomy, which is regarded as a "dark horse", has continued its high-speed growth momentum since the beginning of the year. In contrast, the downward trend of SAIC passenger cars and GAC's autonomy has not been reversed. Among them, the new energy sector of GAC, Ai'an, has seen year-on-year sales decline for three consecutive months.

At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, which just ended, the self owned brand booth has become the "traffic C".

The leaders of various auto enterprises personally stepped down to interact, promoting the popularity of the booth "to explode"; The cool new products and technologies on display attracted foreign friends and media.

Behind the high popularity, the sales of independent brands are also constantly breaking records. According to the latest data released by the China Automobile Association, in April, the sales volume of Chinese brand passenger cars was 1.272 million, up 27.3% year on year, accounting for 63.5% of the total passenger car sales, 8.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year; From January to April, the cumulative sales volume was 4.664 million, up 26.7% year on year, and the market share was 60.7%. The CAAC said that "half of the country can no longer hold the strength of Chinese brands".

BYD, Chang'an, Chery, Geely and Great Wall, as the leading enterprises of independent brands and known as the "independent five tigers", are undoubtedly the key forces to promote the continuous improvement of the overall market share of independent brands.

The data shows that in April, the sales of BYD, Chang'an Autonomous, Chery Autonomous, Geely and Great Wall were 313245, 172623, 170733, 153267 and 94796 respectively, up 48.96%, 12.48%, 43.04%, 39% and 1.8% year on year respectively; The cumulative sales in the first four months were 939508, 761453, 672410, 628987 and 370129, up 23.24%, 13.32%, 57.95%, 47% and 18.18% year on year respectively.

BYD is about to exceed one million vehicles, and Chery is "accelerating"

In terms of target progress, in the first four months of this year, BYD, Chang'an, Geely and Great Wall have respectively completed 25.92%, 34.55%, 33.1% and 19.48% of the target tasks.

In terms of monthly sales ranking, the "independent five tigers" maintain their previous ranking; In terms of cumulative sales, BYD is about to break through the one million mark, and has opened a big gap with its competitors.

From the perspective of sales growth, although all the "five independent tigers" achieved positive growth, the growth rate has been greatly differentiated. Among them, Chery has maintained a rapid growth trend.

Dongfeng's autonomy, which is regarded as a "dark horse" by reporters of China Economic Network, also continues the momentum of rapid growth. On the evening of May 10, Krypton Smart Technology Holdings Co., Ltd. was officially listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the stock code of "ZK". Due to the oversubscription, Krypton expanded its IPO scale and issued 21 million American Depositary Shares (ADS, each ADS corresponds to 10 ordinary shares) at a price of $21 per share, raising about $441 million. After the opening, Krypton's share price rose all the way up to $29.36 and closed at $28.26.

As a luxury smart pure electric brand under Geely Holding Group, Geekrypton has set a new record for the fastest listing of new energy vehicles in the history. It is only 37 months from the launch of the brand on April 15, 2021 to the successful IPO. In sharp contrast to the strong growth momentum of self owned brand new energy vehicles, the sales volume of GAC Ai'an has declined for three consecutive months. The data shows that in April, the sales volume of Ai'an was 21350, down 47.94% year on year; In the first four months, 70217 vehicles were sold, down 41.16% year on year.

Thanks to the self owned brands' collective acceleration of "going to sea", "at present, China's automobile market export growth is faster than domestic sales," the CAAC said, "From January to April, automobile exports totaled 1.827 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 33.4%; by model, 1.539 million passenger vehicles were exported, with a year-on-year growth of 34.8%; and 288000 commercial vehicles were exported, with a year-on-year growth of 26.5%."
