The meteorological work of Yingtan City started in 1974 as a county-level meteorological station, and was upgraded to a regional meteorological bureau in 1986, which has jurisdiction over the work of the headquarters of the municipal bureau, the meteorological bureau of Guixi City, and the meteorological bureau of Yujiang County. At present, the Municipal Bureau has 33 employees and 11 retirees, all of whom are Han Chinese. There are 22 members of the Communist Party of China, accounting for 50% of the total number of employees. 19 of the employees have bachelor's degree; 4 senior engineers, 15 engineers and 14 assistant engineers; 13 under 35 years old, 9 between 36 and 45 years old, 9 between 46 and 55 years old, and 2 over 56 years old.
Yingtan Meteorological Bureau now has three functional departments: Office (Personnel Education Department, Planning and Finance Department, Supervision and Audit Department), Business Science and Technology Department, Policy and Regulation Department (Lightning Protection Administration); Three directly affiliated institutions: Yingtan Meteorological Station (Yingtan Meteorological Research Institute, Yingtan Environmental Forecast Center, Xinjiang Lower Watershed Forecast Center, Yingtan Rural Information Center), Yingtan Meteorological Technology Service Center (Yingtan Fengyun Technology Development Co., Ltd.), and Yingtan Lightning Protection Device Testing and Inspection Institute; A local organization: Yingtan Weather Modification Leading Group Office.
The administrative agency of Yingtan Meteorological Bureau implements a management system under the dual leadership of the superior competent meteorological agency and the people's government at the same level, with the superior competent meteorological agency as the main body. The main responsibilities are: to guide, supervise and administrate meteorological activities within their respective administrative areas; Protect the environment for meteorological observation according to law; To be responsible for the administration of meteorological monitoring and forecasting within their respective administrative areas, and to provide decision-making basis for the people's governments at the corresponding levels to organize the prevention of meteorological disasters; To administer the issuance of public meteorological forecast, disastrous weather warning, agricultural meteorological forecast, urban environmental meteorological forecast, fire danger meteorological grade forecast and other professional meteorological forecast within their respective administrative areas; To manage weather modification work in their own administrative areas, guide and organize weather modification operations; Organize and manage the lightning disaster prevention work, and guide the detection of lightning disaster protection devices installed on buildings, structures and other facilities that may be struck by lightning together with relevant departments; To be responsible for lightning protection and disaster reduction and safety inspection of hydrogen balloons within their own administrative areas; To be responsible for proposing to the people's government at the same level and relevant departments at the same level the use and protection of climate resources and the promotion and application of climate resources development and utilization projects for climate feasibility demonstration; To be responsible for the supervision and inspection of lightning safety and the safety of hydrogen balloon deployment, and undertake relevant administrative reconsideration and litigation; To undertake other tasks assigned by the competent meteorological department at a higher level and the people's government at the same level.
Yingtan Meteorological Bureau has made remarkable achievements in all aspects and has won various honors for many times. In 1990, the China Meteorological Administration issued a notice of commendation to the Yingtan Meteorological Administration, and awarded a prize and a plaque; In 1989 and 1992, Jiangxi Provincial Meteorological Bureau awarded Yingtan Meteorological Bureau with collective merit recording awards for flood season flood control and disaster relief meteorological services; In 2005, Yingtan Meteorological Bureau was jointly awarded by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Justice as the national advanced unit of legal publicity and education from 2001 to 2005; Jiangxi Provincial Meteorological Bureau awarded Yingtan Meteorological Bureau the Advanced Collective of Artificial Rainfall Enhancement and Drought Resistance in 2003 and 2007; It has been awarded by the Yingtan Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government as an advanced unit for flood fighting and emergency rescue, an advanced unit for safe production, an advanced unit for comprehensive management, a harmonious and safe unit, and an advanced unit for family planning for many times; In 2008, Yingtan Meteorological Bureau won the third place in the category of units under the jurisdiction of Yingtan City in the work report and evaluation of departments directly under the municipal government organized by Yingtan Municipal Party Committee.
