2024 Dingbian Folk Culture Festival Held in Cangshan

A series of folk culture activities in the capital of Fujian were presented in a centralized manner, leading the local citizens and tourists to experience the food and folk culture inheritance belonging to Fuzhou.

Dingbian is a famous snack in Fuzhou, also known as Guobian, Dingbian Paste, which is an indispensable part of the life of Fuzhou citizens. Its production skills have become the intangible cultural heritage of Cangshan District. At the beginning of the summer of the Chinese lunar calendar, Fuzhou citizens and farmers in the suburbs are required to paste the edges of the tripod to commemorate the origin of the tripod. It is said that there were two marquis during the reign of Han, Min and Yue kings. At that time, the two marquis marched through Fuzhou, and the people went to the labor force. Due to the hurry of time, they invented the cauldron edge paste. Because of its delicious taste and unique flavor, it was spread by the people of Fuzhou, and the two marquis were honored as the "King of Dingbian".

At the event site, leaders from relevant units in Cangshan District and guests from all walks of life joined hands to light the flame in Baoding, officially opening the Dingbian Cultural Festival. All the experts who participated in the production of the tripod side at the scene took the tripod fire to open the stove, which symbolized the "inheritance of firewood". The ten big stoves cooked the tripod side in the most traditional way, and the tripod side in the most traditional way. The scene showed the processes of the tripod side production techniques, such as grinding rice slurry, boiling clear soup, painting, pouring rice slurry, smouldering, cooking, and so on.

And many local snacks with Fuzhou and Cangshan characteristics were also displayed at the same venue, which together with Dingbian epitomized the connotation of food culture.

While citizens are tasting the pot, a series of wonderful literary and artistic programs are also displayed on the main stage of the event. The programs rich in Fuzhou's urban cultural characteristics echo the pot under the stage, showing the cultural essence of the capital of Fujian. There was also an exhibition on the intangible cultural heritage skills and cultural heritage of Dingbian, showing the cultural connotation of Dingbian.

It is understood that the Dingbian Cultural Festival has been held for many years and has become an important cultural card in Cangshan District. It has become a common way of life for many Cangshan citizens to send the culture of the first summer festival, Dingbian food culture and artistic performances to the citizens.
