Our city issued suggestions on scientific control of wheat midge

On April 17, the reporter learned from the Municipal Agricultural Technology Popularization Center that according to the survey and monitoring of wheat midges, this year the occurrence area of wheat midges in the city was 75200 mu, the area of up to standard prevention and control (more than 2 insects in the sample) was 35500 mu, the average amount of insects in a single sample (10cm × 10cm × 20cm) was 0.1, and the maximum amount of insects in the sample was 4. It is expected that wheat midge will occur lightly in our city. The suitable period for pupal stage control is from April 19 to 24, and adult stage control is from the end of April to the beginning of May.

In recent years, the occurrence degree and area of wheat midge in our city have shown a significant downward trend, and the density of soil washing is generally low. However, midges are hard to find due to their strong concealment, especially their habit of dormancy in soil for many years, with the longest dormancy time up to 12 years. Therefore, scientific control of wheat midge is particularly important.

Agrotechnical experts suggest that the control of mid pupal stage should be carried out at the booting stage of wheat. 1-2 kg of 5% chlorpyrifos granules should be used per mu, 20-25 kg of moistened fine soil should be mixed evenly, and evenly spread along the wheat ridge on the ground surface. Be careful not to spread it on the wheat leaves. The application shall be carried out after 10:00 when there is no dew in the field. Watering after application has better control effect.

The adult stage control is carried out after the heading of wheat and before flowering, and 5% beta cypermethrin emulsion 7-11ml, or 30% clofenpyram suspension 4-5ml, or 20% bifen triazophos microemulsion 30-40ml can be used for uniform spray control.
