    The name "Fengshun" has a long history. According to the county annals, Fengshunying was set up in the early Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty; According to the Fengliang Dongguan'ao stone inscription, in the ninth year of Shunzhi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, one of the stone seals in the "Golden Soup Consolidation" stele set up by Wu Liuqi, a disciple, has four characters of Fengshun Wu Mansion.

    Before treatment

    During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Fengshun County was located in Baiyue. Qin belonged to Jieyang County, Nanhai County. After Zhao Tuo established himself as the King of Nanyue, Jieyang County belonged to Nanyue. In the sixth year of Yuanding, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Nanyue was unified. Fengshun County still belonged to Jieyang County, Nanhai County. The Three Kingdoms belong to Sun Wu. In the sixth year of Xianhe's reign in the Jin Dynasty (331 AD), Nanhai Prefecture was divided into Dongguan Prefecture, and Jieyang was subordinate to Dongguan Prefecture. In the ninth year of the reign of Emperor An, Yi'an County was divided into Dongguan Prefecture and Yi'an County, and Jieyang County was abolished and five counties were set up: Sui'an (today's Zhangpu, Fujian), Haining (today's Longxi, Fujian), Haiyang (today's Chaozhou City, Chao'an, Jieyang, Jiexi, Chenghai, Raoping, Nan'ao and Fengshun), Chaoyang (today's Chaoyang, Puning, Huilai), Yizhao (today's Meixian, Dapu). There was no major change in the organizational system during the Song, Qi, Liang and Chen dynasties. In the 11th year of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Yi'an County was abolished and Chaozhou Prefecture was set up. After several changes, most of Fengshun belonged to Haiyang County, Chaozhou Prefecture. Tang Tianbao once changed Chaozhou Prefecture into Chaoyang Prefecture in the early years of the reign of Emperor Qianyuan. In the third year of Xuanhe's reign in the Song Dynasty, Jieyang County was re established in part of Haiyang County, still under the jurisdiction of Chaozhou. In the 17th year of the Zhiyuan era, the Emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty changed Chaozhou Prefecture into Chaozhou Road, and Haiyang and Jieyang still belong to Chaozhou. In the second year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty (1369), Chaozhou Road was changed into Chaozhou Prefecture, which governed eight counties, including Haiyang and Jieyang.

    Three years before the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, Jieyang, Haiyang, Jiaying, and Dapu were surrounded by mountains and mountains. The people fought against food and poverty, stole mines and rebelled, which was beyond the reach of the county government. During the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, Pantian Inspection Department was set up to carry out bomb suppression. In the early years of Longqing, Tongjun Prefecture was built in Fengzheng Capital of Haiyang County, and a member of Chaozhou Prefecture was transferred to garrison. When the situation subsided, it was returned to the prefecture. In the early years of Chongzhen, Fengshun Camp was set up, and the garrison department was set up in the original pass city.

    In the second year of Qianlong's reign (1737), the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, Emida, visited Chaozhou and set up a county seat under the jurisdiction of Chaozhou Prefecture in the Fengzheng Capital of Haiyang County. The following year (1738) was approved by the imperial government and named Fengshun County. The Fengzheng Capital of Haiyang County is complete, the Lantian Capital of Jieyang County is nine maps and ten maps, and the border areas of four prefectures and counties in Chengxiang County, Jiaying Prefecture, such as Wang'an Capital Jingxin, Huanqing, Jianqiao Sanbao, and Qingyuan Capital Baimang Community, Dapu County, are the county territory. The former Fengzheng Capital Tangtian Tongzheng Fucheng (now Fengliang Town) is the county seat.

    After the county was established, it was under the jurisdiction of Hui Chao, the governor of Guangdong, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi. In the Republic of China, Fengshun County was successively under the jurisdiction of Chaoxundao, the Fifth and Eighth Office of Administrative Inspectors in Guangdong Province.

    In October 1949, Fengshun County was liberated. The county seat was moved from Fengliang to Tangkeng Town, belonging to Xingmei District Commissioner's Office. In 1953, it belonged to the East Guangdong Administrative Office, and in 1956, it belonged to the Shantou Commissioner's Office. In December 1958, Fengshun was revoked and incorporated into Dapu and Jieyang counties. It was restored in January 1961 and belongs to Shantou area. It belonged to Meixian County in 1965 and Meizhou City after 1987.

    In 1996, Fengshun County had an area of 2691 square kilometers and a population of about 613000. It has jurisdiction over 24 towns: Tangkeng Town, Fucheng Town, Donglian Town, Beidou Town, Tangxi Town, Tangnan Town, Puzhai Town, Shangba Town, Xiaba Town, Fengliang Town, Jianqiao Town, Longgang Town, Pantian Town, Xiandong Town, Dalonghua Town, Jingmen Town, Huangjin Town, Maliuhuang Town, Dongmaliu Town, Chabei Town, Tanjiang Town, Tanshan She Town, Shatian Town, and Xiaosheng Town. The county government is stationed in Tangkeng.

    In the fifth census in 2000, the total permanent population of Fengshun County was 449769, including 69586 in Tangkeng Town, 33148 in Fucheng Town, 5587 in Donglian Town, 8779 in Beidou Town, 35599 in Tangxi Town, 29633 in Tangnan Town, 22617 in Puzhai Town, 5411 in Shangba Town, 6843 in Xiaba Town, 34453 in Fengliang Town, 18201 in Jianqiao Town, 11307 in Longgang Town, and 22965 in Pantian Town, There are 5471 people in Xiandong Town, 25800 people in Huangjin Town, 32708 people in Liuhuang Town, 16708 people in Dongliu Town, 10462 people in Chabei Town, 6831 people in Dalonghua Town, 6983 people in Jingmen Town, 12544 people in Tanjiang Town, 5028 people in Tanshan Town, 10803 people in Xiaosheng Town, and 12302 people in Shatian Town.

    In 2002, Fengshun County had jurisdiction over 24 towns, including Tangkeng, Fengliang, Pantian, Huangjintanjiang, Liuhuang, Tangnan, Puzhai, Tangxi, Fucheng, Jianqiao, Longgang, Xiandong, Jingmen, Xiaosheng, Tanshan, Donglian, Dongliu, Chabei, Beidou, Shatian, Dalonghua, Shangba Township and Xiaba Township, with 261 village committees and 18 neighborhood committees.

    In September 2003, Fengliang Town and Xiandong Town were merged into Fengliang Town, Tanjiang Town and Tanshan Town were merged into Tanjiang Town, and Shangba Township and Xiaba Township were merged into Baxiangshan Town.

    In October 2004, Tangkeng, Fucheng and Donglian were merged into Tangkeng Town, Liuhuang, Dongliu and Chabei were merged into Liuhuang Town, and Dalonghua and Jingmen were merged into Dalonghua Town. There are 16 towns and 1 farm in the county, which governs 261 village committees (not included in Puzhai Farm), 20 community neighborhood committees and 1956 natural villages.

    In 2023, Fengshun County will have jurisdiction over 16 towns (Puzhai Town, Baxiangshan Town, Tangnan Town, Tangxi Town, Tangkeng Town, Beidou Town, Jianqiao Town, Fengliang Town, Longgang Town, Pantian Town, Liuhuang Town, Huangjin Town, Dalonghua Town, Xiaosheng Town, Tanjiang Town, Shatian Town), one state-owned farm (Puzhai Farm), 261 village committees (not included in Puzhai Farm), and 20 community neighborhood committees, There are 1422 natural villages, and the county seat is located in Tangkeng Town.
