Migrant workers enjoy the Happy New Year

"For us migrant workers, the elderly need to provide for the elderly, the children need to pay tuition, and we need to support our families. The wages for working are hard money, but also the source of livelihood and hope of rural families." On January 31, at the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Zhaohua District, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, Zhang and six fellow workers said with emotion when they received a half year salary arrears on a construction site.

In recent years, Zhaohua District of Guangyuan City, centering on safeguarding the rights and interests of migrant workers, has taken the radical treatment of wage arrears as the focus of its policy, innovated a number of systems and mechanisms, and introduced hard core measures, which have achieved remarkable results.

"Only four days after the complaint, I was notified to collect the money. I didn't expect to be able to handle it so quickly." On January 23, Wang Mou, Zhaohua District, received more than half a year's hard money and said gratefully. At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, it is not only the peak period for migrant workers to cash their wages, but also the prone period for wage arrears. During this period, Zhaohua District Human Resources and Social Security, Letters and Calls, Housing and Construction and other departments formed a joint conference mechanism to strictly implement relevant policies, so that migrant workers can have a safe and comfortable year.

In addition, in August 2023, Zhaohua District also innovatively established the "Labor Security Rights Protection Acceptance Center", transferred business backbones from relevant departments, co operated arbitration and supervision institutions, changed the original "solo" into "chorus", and realized the "one-stop handling" of supervision and arbitration. At the same time, it has also developed a small program called "Salary Safety Zhaohua" to realize "one click complaint". Since last year, through various platforms and on-site complaints, the district has received 83 complaints about rights protection and salary arrears, involving 320 people, and recovered more than 7.12 million yuan of salary arrears for migrant workers.

"In recent years, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security will issue a 'blacklist' of wages owed to migrant workers to urge enterprises to operate in good faith and develop healthily." Li Xiafei, Labor Supervision Brigade of Zhaohua District, introduced.

"We always adhere to the principle of source control, prevention first, and combination of prevention and control, and continue to consolidate and expand the results of the radical treatment of unpaid wages by handling cases with high quality and efficiency, creating a good social atmosphere of caring for migrant workers, and effectively protecting their labor remuneration rights and interests." Xi Tianyin, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and director of Zhaohua District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, said.
