Iceland is located in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean near the Arctic Circle, with a total area of 1030000 square kilometers, but only about 400000 people. It is one of the countries with the lowest population density in the world. Iceland, known as the country of ice and fire, attracts tourists and photographers all over the world with its volcanoes, glaciers, hot springs, aurora and other natural scenery. Not long ago, I took Fuji Zhonghua Painting with me camera GFX100S has set foot on this land and frozen many beautiful moments. Now I will share this journey with you.

Fuji GFX100 S is a medium frame no reflection camera. Its image sensor area is 43.8mm × 32.9mm, 1.7 times the area of the full frame sensor, and has 102 million effective pixels. Therefore, it can bring better picture quality performance than full frame camera, especially picture details, tolerance performance and high sense imaging. This is also an important reason why I gave up the full frame camera to choose Fuji medium frame.

Icelandic Highway 1, also known as the Island Ring Road, is the main trunk road in Iceland. It connects the natural beauty of Iceland. Along the way, you can enjoy the natural wonders with different styles, such as volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls and black sand beaches. My trip to Iceland also started around this scenic road.

Kilchu Mountain is one of the most photographed scenic spots in Iceland. In the film Daydreamer, the protagonist once skated past the mountain. The mountain is symmetrical in shape and rich in rock layers. The sun shines on the mountain and presents a warm yellow color, which forms a sharp contrast with the surrounding cold sky and sea water. Because of the high pixel performance of Fuji GFX100S, you can clearly see the rock layers and mountain details even if you zoom in 100%.

102 million pixels means more than details. Users who like landscape photography have such experience. Due to the lens focus and environment, many distant scenes cannot be well received into the picture, and can only be re composed by cutting in the later stage. If the camera pixel is not high, the sharpness of the cut photo will be greatly reduced. However, if the equipment has an imaging capacity of 100 million pixels, there is no need to worry about the definition. Even if only 1/2 of the image is retained, it is 50 million pixels, and the definition is not a problem at all.

How can I not shoot the aurora in Iceland? Because it is close to the Arctic Circle, the whole of Iceland can enjoy the aurora from September to April of the next year. Shooting aurora has high requirements for the camera's high sensitivity imaging. In short, it is necessary to obtain pure and clear images under the conditions of dark light, high sensitivity and long exposure. This is what Fuji GFX100S, equipped with a medium frame sensor, is good at.

When the sensitivity is set to ISO 3200 and the shutter speed is 13s for long exposure, the aurora photos taken by Fuji GFX100S can see rich details and clean images with less noise even if they are magnified 100%. Here we also share some tips for shooting the aurora and the starry sky. That is, we must have a bright future. Simply shooting the starry sky or the aurora picture is too dull. If there are buildings, rocks and even characters in the mirror at this time, the overall picture will be more flexible and artistic.

As a landscape photographer, I value the tolerance of equipment. After all, the light in nature cannot be changed by human. The high tolerance Fuji GFX100S allows me to better record the colors and details of bright and dark parts of the picture when facing complex light conditions.

Iceland has a population of only 400000 people. Traveling here will give you a feeling of loneliness, and you can understand why people here are afraid. But for scenery photography creation, it is a good condition at the right time and place, which can better appreciate the magnificence and magic of nature.

Fuji GFX100S is equipped with a five axis anti shake system of the fuselage, which can bring a 6-gear anti shake effect. The above photo was taken by my hand-held camera at a slower shutter speed. The anti shake system has played a role in ensuring clear imaging. It is worth mentioning that although it is a medium frame camera, the GFX100S body weighs only about 900g, which is lighter than many full frame cameras, and will not bring me too much burden when creating.
