The National Mango Germplasm Resources Nursery is a national mango generic plant germplasm resources nursery jointly built by the Tropical Crop Variety Resources Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the People's Government of Tiandong County. It covers an area of 320 mu and can save more than 2000 germplasm resources. It is divided into 10 functional areas, including the China Mango Variety Conservation Area, the Africa Mango Variety Conservation Area and the Variety Innovation Area. The National Mango Germplasm Resources Nursery focuses on the collection, sorting, preservation, identification, evaluation and innovative utilization of domestic and foreign germplasm resources, focusing on the research on the protection and utilization of domestic and foreign endangered species, endemic species and mango germplasm resources with important economic and scientific values, and will play an active role in serving the national strategy of "fighting a good seed industry turnaround".
Mayor Ge Guoke made a speech for the opening ceremony, saying that he would deepen cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and other relevant parties, jointly launch more high-quality varieties urgently needed by the mango industry, and carry out more effective technology promotion of the mango industry. Chen Yeyuan, the academician, said that the Academy of Thermal Sciences will earnestly implement the relevant deployment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, optimize the scientific and technological layout of the Academy of Thermal Sciences in Baise, continuously improve the service quality, and continue to support the development of Baise and even the national mango industry.
Wang Jiabao pointed out that the Institute will make every effort to ensure the standardized operation of the national mango germplasm resource nursery, fully form a joint force with scientific and technological platforms and research teams such as the Baise Comprehensive Station of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the Baise Mango Research Institute, actively attract scientific and technological forces such as Guangxi University and Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences to settle in the germplasm resource nursery for joint research, and make good use of the germplasm resource nursery, Breeding more varieties to ensure the development of mango industry in China.
