On June 13, 2023, the Turkish Consulate General in Chengdu held its opening ceremony, attended by Wu Xi, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yang Xingping, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Musa, Turkish Ambassador to China, Tao Keman, Consul General in Chengdu and others.
Wu Xi delivered a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said that 2023 is the first year for China to fully implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. Under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is promoting the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road", which also brings new opportunities for China Turkey practical cooperation. It is believed that the establishment of the Consulate General will build a new bridge for friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Turkey.
Yang Xingping said that the opening of the Consulate General will create more opportunities for local exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan Province and Turkey. Sichuan Province is willing to work with Turkey to further deepen cooperation in various fields and inherit the "Silk Road friendship" between China and Turkey.
Ambassador Moussa thanked China for its strong support for the opening of the Consulate General, said that Turkey is willing to firmly develop bilateral relations and believes that the opening of the Consulate General will help the bilateral relations achieve more results.
