From April 24 to 28, 2023, the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized 15 Consuls General of Brazil, Indonesia and other countries in China to visit the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Ma Xingrui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, met with the delegation. Ma said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core has strategically reviewed and planned the work in Xinjiang, which has promoted the tremendous changes in the economic and social landscape of Xinjiang. The members of the delegation said that Xinjiang's multi-cultural integration and development, people's lives are stable and peaceful, which is completely different from the reports of some western media. Under the framework of the "Belt and Road", China is willing to continue to promote the countries where it is located to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Xinjiang in various fields. The delegation also visited the theme exhibition of counter-terrorism and the fight against extremism, and spoke highly of the relevant practices and achievements.

During the visit, Wei Xiaodong, Deputy Director General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a symposium with consulates general of various countries to promote Xi Jinping's diplomatic thoughts and exchange views on the development of consular relations between China and foreign countries.
