On April 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of the Cambodian Consulate General in Jinan was held. Wu Xi, Director of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deng Yunfeng, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Sisoda, Cambodian Ambassador to China, and Shan Suofeng, Consul General in Jinan attended the meeting.

Director General Wu Xi, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that 2023 is the first year for China to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. In February this year, President Xi Jinping and visiting Prime Minister Hun Sen reached an important consensus on building a high-quality, high-level and high standard China Cambodia community of common destiny in a new era, pointing out the direction for the development of China Cambodia relations. The practical cooperation and exchanges between Shandong Province and Cambodia in various fields have broad prospects. It is believed that the opening of the Consulate General of Cambodia in Jinan will inject new vitality into the expansion of exchanges and cooperation between China and Cambodia, and will further enrich the strategic connotation of China Cambodia bilateral relations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is willing to work with Shandong Province to facilitate and assist the work of the Consulate General.

Vice Governor Deng Yunfeng said that the opening of the Consulate General of Cambodia in Jinan will open a new chapter of friendly cooperation between Shandong and Cambodia. Shandong Province will implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Cambodia and contribute to the "baton" of China Cambodia friendship from generation to generation.

In his speech, Ambassador Sisota spoke highly of Cambodia China friendly cooperative relations and the fruitful results of bilateral practical cooperation. It is believed that the opening of the Consulate General will actively promote exchanges and cooperation between Cambodia and Shandong Province in various fields and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.
