Mid hour review: use big data to serve migrant workers well

At the ongoing National "Two Sessions", Wang Junjin, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, submitted a proposal on the establishment of a national migrant workers information big data platform. In the proposal, Wang Junjin cited the data of the National Bureau of Statistics and pointed out that the total number of migrant workers in China had reached 290 million last year, but there was still a "labor shortage" in every peak recruitment season, mainly because of the mismatch between the information of factories and migrant workers. Many migrant workers still rely on the offline talent market, contract workers or acquaintances to find jobs, and factories are often difficult to find workers who meet the skill requirements in this way, which greatly affects production efficiency. Nowadays, the existing recruitment platforms in the market have few special services for migrant workers.

In other words, in the era of big data, the "information gap" is becoming an important reason for the gap between migrant workers and other workers in terms of post, income, welfare, social security and many other aspects. The reason for the "information gap" is that there are not enough channels to accept the employment information of migrant workers, and there are few platforms to provide migrant workers with the information they need.

In fact, in response to similar problems, some large migrant provinces have been led by the relevant government departments to establish a database of farmers' industrial universities, and have carried out some useful exploration and achieved some results. However, it cannot be ignored that a considerable number of migrant workers are trans provincial workers. It is necessary to break through the data barriers between regions at the national level, so that migrant workers can enjoy big data services in both the outflow and inflow places. What's more, the more cross regional work, the less information migrant workers can obtain from their acquaintance network, and the stronger the demand for Internet platforms.

To build a big data platform that migrant workers are willing to use, like to use, and really useful, this platform can not only have simple recruitment information, otherwise it is just to digitize the recruitment column of the labor market. This platform should expand migrant workers' online service channels, such as social security, residence registration, organizational relationship transfer, and provide more effective services for migrant workers, such as skills training, legal advice, occupational health, so that migrant workers can really benefit from big data.

There is another point that cannot be ignored. While the big data platform serves migrant workers well, its massive online information can also provide strong data support for the transformation of local enterprises, local economic and social development, and various public affairs decision-making, which will ultimately benefit migrant workers.
