The self-healing technology is the "immune system" of the smart grid, and is an important link to ensure the intelligent operation of the smart distribution network.

In Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, the intelligent distributed integrated protection device developed by Zhejiang Zhongxin Electric Power Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. is to realize the rapid diagnosis, isolation and self-healing of power distribution network faults by organically combining the single-phase ground fault detection technology, three-level short circuit fault rapid protection technology and 5G communication technology.

It is understood that the intelligent distributed integrated protection device is compact in structure, convenient for batch production and testing, and designed to meet the requirements of plug and play. After being installed in the switch cabinet, the device will automatically conduct fault monitoring and processing, accurately locate the fault point, and shorten the fault isolation time from "minute level" to "millisecond level", so as to improve the power quality, save energy and reduce losses.

"When a fault occurs, no manual setting operation is required. The integrated protection device will automatically diagnose the equipment fault, isolate the fault and transfer it to the line, and transmit the fault information to the master station at a high speed through 5G communication. The 5G delay can be controlled within 30 milliseconds, so that self inspection and self recovery can be achieved within milliseconds." Wang Juliang said.
