At the press conference on the development of industry and informatization in the first three quarters of 2023 held by the State Council Information Office recently, the performance of new energy vehicles was very eye-catching, and the scale of production and marketing was further expanded. The production and sales of new energy vehicles in the first three quarters were 6.313 million and 6.278 million, up 33.7% and 37.5% year on year respectively. The new energy vehicle sales accounted for 29.8% of the total new vehicle sales.

In order to consolidate the production and marketing scale of new energy vehicles, China will continue to expand the domestic market scale, including accelerating the formulation and adjustment of technical requirements for new energy vehicles with vehicle purchase tax reduction and exemption, and deepening the activities of new energy vehicles going to the countryside.

In the first three quarters of this year, China exported 3.388 million vehicles, up 60% year on year. Among them, the export growth of new energy vehicles is very strong. In September, 96000 new energy vehicles were exported, up 92.8% year on year. In many countries, China's new energy vehicles have become the champion of local new energy vehicle sales. Analyzing the reasons behind it, the key word is "consolidating the foundation and promoting innovation", and new energy vehicles are injecting new momentum into China's foreign trade. According to the prediction of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the export of automobiles will exceed 4 million in 2023, including 1 million new energy automobiles.

New generation technology accelerates the empowerment of new energy vehicles

Its biggest advantage is that its volume has been reduced by 33%, while its power density and efficiency have been greatly improved. This new generation of millimeter wave radar is like the "eye" of a car. The detection distance can reach 300 meters, which is much more than the detection distance of 200 meters of the previous generation of products. This new generation of intelligent driving domain controller with high computing power is like the "brain" of a car, providing technical support for high-level automatic driving with high computing power.

Due to China's leading advantage in electric drive technology, a variety of drive technology routes have also emerged. In Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, the head of Geely Automobile's R&D headquarters told reporters that the sales of this type of new energy vehicles increased nearly 100% year on year in the first three quarters of this year after their new plug-in hybrid technology.

Driven by China's efforts to expand automobile electrification, multinational automobile companies have also increased their investment in new technologies in the Chinese market. In Guangzhou, this new car with super hybrid electric drive technology has the technical advantage that the engine is equivalent to a range extender and is specially used for power generation.

New energy vehicles drive the rapid development of multiple industries

While the production and sales of new energy vehicles have maintained a rapid growth, new energy vehicles have also begun to accelerate the coordinated development of multiple industries and form new growth points.

The rapid development of new energy vehicles has formed the joint development of new materials, new generation information communication, artificial intelligence operating systems, such as large models, and new growth points. Since this year, more than 10 large models have been announced to get on the vehicle. In Qian'an, Hebei Province, since this year, this self-developed high-grade electrical steel production line has maintained full capacity production every month. It is estimated that the annual steel consumption of new energy vehicles in 2022 will be about 11 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of about 90%. In addition, while the market demand for key parts such as motors and electronic controls is increasing, the demand for upstream raw materials such as aluminum and copper is also growing.

Moreover, China has built 6.278 million charging piles and 3460 power stations, forming the world's largest charging network. At the same time, more than 10000 power battery recycling service outlets were built.
