About Chuxiong

Chuxiong Prefecture is located on the west side of the southern section of the Kangdian Earth Axis, spanning 100o43 ′ - 102o30 ′ E and 24o13 ′ - 26o30 ′ N, belonging to the western Yunnan Guizhou Plateau and the main part of the central Yunnan Plateau. It borders Kunming in the east, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in the west, Simao Prefecture and Yuxi City in the south, Panzhihua City of Sichuan Province and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in the north, and Lijiang across the Jinsha River in the northwest. The terrain of the prefecture is inclined from northwest to southeast, with the maximum horizontal distance from east to west of 175 kilometers and the maximum vertical distance from south to north of 247.5 kilometers. There are many mountains in the territory, and the mountainous area accounts for more than 90% of the total area. During this period, the mountains are overlapping, the peaks are arched, the valleys are scattered, and the rivers and streams are crisscross. It is known as "nine mountains and one dam". Wumeng Mountain is located in the east, Ailao Mountain lies in the southwest, and Baicao Mountain stands in the northwest, forming a tripartite confrontation; Between Jinsha River and Yuanjiang River
