It was Mr. Zhong who got up to make breakfast for the students at 5 o'clock in the morning; It is Mr. Zhong who climbs the slope and crosses the ridge to explore the way for the students; On the plateau, it was Mr. Zhong who was out of breath and chatting with the sleepy driver... When he was young, Zhong Yang complained that his parents, who were teachers, cared more about students than themselves. Now, he has left behind a pair of beloved sons and spent more time with students than with his own children.
In 2003, Zhong Yang served as the executive vice president of the School of Life Sciences of Fudan University; In 2012, he served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Fudan University. During his tenure, he worked hard to promote interdisciplinary development, created a new model of "problem driven" graduate education quality monitoring and assurance, and promoted the continuous improvement of graduate education quality.

At the beginning of his assistance to Tibet, Zhong Yang wanted to make an inventory of plant "family resources" for the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. On the long road of scientific research, he gradually realized that this magical land needs not only a biologist, but also an educator. "Sowing the seeds of scientific research in the hearts of Tibetan students may have a more far-reaching impact on the future". Later, he wanted to build up the "hematopoietic mechanism" of Tibet University, create the best platform, and take the discipline to a new height.
"I will not leave Tibet University unless I get the right to confer a doctor's degree!" On the first day of coming to Tibet University, Zhong Yang patted the chest of all teachers and students at the plenary meeting. At that time, Tibet University didn't even have a master's degree. After 16 years of hard work, Zhong Yang helped Tibet University create "firsts" one after another: applied to Tibet's first National Natural Science Foundation and the first doctor of science program, trained the first doctor of botany for the Tibetan people, and led the ecological discipline of Tibet University to be selected as the national "double first-class"... which not only filled the gap in Tibet's higher education, It has also successfully introduced the biodiversity research of Tibet University to the world.
