Zeng Yanmei can't remember why she was called "Professor Zeng" in the first place. That was before she was really named "Professor Zeng". The colleague said so, and the customer followed. With a respectful tone, she had to explain again and again: "I'm not a professor..."

"Professor Zeng" is not a professor preaching on the platform of the university, but the overall design director of the bogie research and development department of the product research and development center of CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. Before accepting the interview of the reporter of the Workers' Daily, she had just returned from a visit to Macedonia.

Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe... Seven or eight years ago, Zeng Yanmei didn't think that her bogie could run on foreign tracks. However, as CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. went abroad, "Professor Zeng" from Yiyang rural area also raised his career goal from "walking around the country" to "walking around the world".

"Here comes someone who can send and receive newspapers"

"Working around, 20 minutes have passed." Zeng Yanmei, wearing the uniform of the company's unified suit, doesn't wear makeup, only wears a simple ponytail, and wears a pair of thin frame glasses on her nose. As soon as she sat down, her cell phone cried out again.

More than 20 minutes passed quickly, and more than 20 years were also fleeting. In 1995, as the first college student in the village, let alone the "bogie", Zeng Yanmei had no concept of the mechanical manufacturing process and equipment major on the admission notice. However, she and her family did not care about this. It was a great happiness that "Yuenongmen" went to college.

"The bogie of a railway train acts like the chassis of a car." Now, 18 years after graduating from college, she has already found an appropriate analogy to explain her work. After hanging up the phone, Zeng Yanmei made a gesture.

Unlike subway and bullet train carriages that can be seen and touched by passengers, bogies with the appearance of four wheel "small board cars" are placed under the carriages and are the "backstage" equipment of rail transit. Even the bogie designer has to bend down or even lie on the ground to see its true face. It is common to get covered in dust when overhauling outside. It is this inconspicuous bogie that is directly related to the functions of train steering, shock absorption, traction braking, etc., and "is the key component that determines the safety of operation."

In 2004, when Zeng Yanmei was transferred to Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. from Zhuzhou Rolling Stock Factory, which designed freight car bogies, there were few orders and few bogie designers. Her department was previously a "monk department". After she came to report for duty, a colleague joked: "Finally, there is someone who can send and receive newspapers."
