Introduction to Qinyuan County

Qinyuan County is located at the eastern foot of Taiyue Mountain, with a total area of 2554 square kilometers, jurisdiction over 4 towns and 18 townships, and a population of 153800. The county government is located in Chengguan Town.
Qinyuan was established as Guyuan County in the Western Han Dynasty, and was not abolished in the Western Jin Dynasty. In the first year of Jianyi in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Qinyuan County was set up. Qinzhou was set up here twice in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the northern part of the Sui and Yuan Dynasties was changed to Mianshang County. At the beginning of 1941, it was divided into Qinyuan County and Mianshang County. At the beginning of 1946, it was merged into Qinyuan County. It was incorporated into Qinxian County in 1958 and restored to Qinyuan County in 1960.
Surrounded by mountains, the territory is undulating and belongs to Taiyue Mountain System. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The northwest is close to the main peak of Taiyue Mountain. The main mountain ranges include Lingkong Mountain, Yungai Mountain, Tianchi Mountain, Yunmeng Mountain and other 28 mountains. The highest peak is at the edge of the teahouse, 2523m above sea level, and the lowest Longtoushai is 939m above sea level. The mountains are well covered with vegetation. The area from Mianshan to Lingkong Mountain is densely covered with pinus tabulaeformis, thick trunks, more than 10 meters high, deep forests and dense trees, blocking the sun and sky. The eastern mountain is slightly lower, with the highest elevation of 1745 meters. There are pieces of Chinese pine in the mountain cover, but the trees in the Laoye Mountain are large and deep, with the height of about 10 meters, and the rest are sparse forests. Qinhe River is the largest river in the country. It originates from Erlang Shengou in the northwest of the county and flows southward into the Yellow River. Its tributaries include Baizi River, Chishiqiao River and Zihong River.
Qinyuan County has an average annual temperature of 8.7 ℃, minus 6.5 ℃ in January, 22.4 ℃ in July, an annual rainfall of 600mm, a frost free period of 50 to 180 days from early October to late April of the next year.
Qinyuan County's economy is dominated by agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and coal. The existing cultivated land is 281900 mu, and the crops are mainly coarse grains, including corn, millet, beans, wheat, naked oats, potatoes, etc. The forest area is more than 2 million mu, and the wild resources include mountain peach, apricot, acorn, Chinese pine seed, agaric, mushroom, etc. There are more than 120 kinds of wild medicinal materials, including Codonopsis pilosula, Huangcen, Forsythia suspensa, Bupleurum chinense, etc. Wild animals include wolves, leopards, mountain pigs, goats, etc. Qinyuan County is also very rich in grazing slope resources, with 720000 mu of contiguous grazing slope area, more than 200 kinds of forage grass, and quite developed animal husbandry. A certain amount of beef cattle is exported overseas every year.
The mineral reserves are dominated by coal, with a total reserves of about 12.8 billion tons, followed by iron. Bauxite, sulfur, limestone, etc. also have reserves. Industrial production mainly includes raw coal, coke, pig iron, machinery parts, power, sulfur, fertilizer, centrifuge, pulverizer, etc. The annual output of raw coal is more than 755600 tons.
  

Tourism Features of Qinyuan County

The main scenic spots and historic sites are Shengshou Temple, which is located in Lingkong Mountain Valley, 18 kilometers northwest of the county seat. It was built in the second year of Jingfu in the Tang Dynasty. There are East Bell Tower, Xianling Bridge and Luan Bridge in the temple. The scale is strict and the layout is unique, of which ten scenic spots are the most eye-catching. Lingkong Mountain, also known as Jiuding Mountain, is located 30 kilometers northwest of the county seat. It is a natural scenic spot with emerald peaks, steep walls, clear water, dense forests and clouds. In Yanzhai Village, seven kilometers south of the county seat, there is a three-way connection to the "Memorial of the Young Anti Japanese Decisive Brigade for the Fourth Anniversary of the Anti Japanese War", which records the heroic deeds of the anti Japanese soldiers and civilians at that time.

Transportation in Qinyuan County

The transportation in the county is relatively convenient. The branch roads from Pingyao to Tunliu and Zhangdian pass through the county. The branch road from the intersection of Qinyuan County to Wuxiang via Qinxian County connects Taiyuan Dakau trunk road and Yuci Huangnian branch road. Vehicles can be used between villages and towns within the territory. However, transportation in some mountainous areas still depends on people carrying animals.
