Bakong Temple

Bakong Temple is a Hindu royal temple built by Indra Bhama I in 881. It has five floors of foundations and is the symbol of Mount Xumi. About 900 meters from east to west and 700 meters from north to south, the five stone terraces represent five levels or classifications of Indian mythology: Naga, Garuda, Rakshasa, Yaksha and Deva. There are steps all around the stone platform leading to the top floor, and the steps in the north are best preserved. The moat outside the wall represents the ocean of the universe surrounding Mount Xumi. [Online]
