It is located in the center of Beijing, formerly known as the Forbidden City. Built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), it is the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the essence of Han palace architecture, an unparalleled masterpiece of ancient architecture, and the world's largest and most complete ancient building complex with wooden structure. All the buildings of the Palace Museum are composed of two parts, namely, the "former dynasty" and the "inner court", surrounded by city walls. It is surrounded by the river. There are turrets at four corners of the city. There is one gate on each side, and the Meridian Gate is in the south, which is the main gate of the Forbidden City.
