Guangyue-26P, one of the top ten famous buildings in China

Guangyue Tower, also known as "Yumu Tower", "Drum Tower" and "Dongchang Tower", is located in the center of the ancient city of Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province. It was built in the seventh year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1374 AD). In the ninth year of the reign of Emperor Hongzhi of the Ming Dynasty (1496), the Kaogong Yuan Wai Lang Li Zan went to Liaocheng. He saw that this building was tall and strong, which is unique in the world. But it has been unknown for a hundred years now. Because of the agreement with Jin Tianxi, the governor of Dongchang Prefecture at that time, it was named "Guangyue Building", which "takes the light from the nearby Lu State to the Daiyue State". This building is a representative building in the transition from the Song and Yuan dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the largest existing pavilion in the Ming Dynasty in China. In form, it inherits the legacy of the Song and Yuan pavilions, and in structure, it inherits the traditional style of the Tang and Song dynasties. At the same time, it has some similarities with other buildings in the early Ming Dynasty, which is the first official style building. It is a four eaved Xieshan cross ridge pavilion, consisting of a building foundation and a four storey main building, with a total height of 33 meters. The building foundation is a square high platform made of bricks and stones, covering an area of 1236 square meters, with a side length of 34.5 meters, gradually closing upward, and a vertical height of 9 meters. It is composed of four semicircle arches that cross and connect with each other and 50 multi-stage steps that lead directly to the main building. The main building is a full wooden structure, with cornices on four sides, connected by an ambulatory. The whole building has 112 steps, 192 gold pillars and more than 200 bucket arches. In the building, there are many plaques, couplets, inscriptions and engravings. Each piece of inscription is exquisitely inlaid with carved stones. Among them, the plaques with "Holy Light Clock" written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the poems carved by Emperor Qianlong, the handwriting of Fu Yijian and Deng Zhongyue, the top scholars of the Qing Dynasty, the plaques and couplets of Guo Moruo and Feng Zikai are extremely precious.
