Andy Lau "went bad" in the film. In fact, after reading the script, Andy Lau took the initiative to tell the director that his role could be worse, so he acted like this.
When filming the "Central War", the government department only allowed the crew to shoot in Central for two hours each on two weekends. Only when it was not light, they went to the other party to practice first. The whole shooting process was very tense.[4]
Yao Chen performed in Cantonese for the first time in the film.
Yao Chen was two months pregnant when he made the film, but he didn't know it at that time.In her line, Yan Bing said to Tao Chengbang, "I'm pregnant for two months, not yours", which unexpectedly coincided with reality.[5]
As the political and commercial center of Hong Kong, Central used to be very difficult to shoot big scenes in the downtown area of Central, let alone shoot with guns and bullets. However, it was the first time that the film was allowed to shoot live scenes in Central, running through Pedder Street, Queen's Road Central, Yunxian Street and other core areas[11]。During shooting, the Central War is extremely difficult in any film shooting link. In this film, the director Yuan Jinlin requires it to be "a war" in scale, and the action director Qian Jiale must upgrade the calculation of various details to the stage of "more accurate in accuracy" in order to produce real and shocking visual effects. This scene was originally shot for ten days,It will take twenty days to finish.
Creative intention
As for the role played by Yao Chen and Lin Jiadonglian in The Storm, the director Yuan Jinlin said that Lv Mingzhe is committed to justice, while Luo Yanbing and Tao Chengbang are committed to love. For this love, they are willing to sacrifice each other. Luo Yanbing has endured Tao Chengbang again and again, and Tao Chengbang has done earth shaking things to Luo Yanbing at the last moment,There was a lot of mutual sacrifice. This kind of love is also the most important part of the film, which aims to present the part that was not valued before in a police and bandit film[19]。
Angle selection
Yao Chen was appointed by Mr. Jiang Zhiqiang, the boss of Anle Company, to play the role of "Storm"[18]。
Supervised by
In the film, Andy Lau not only gave performances, but also acted as a producer for the first time[8]。

Storm uses 3D technology. Every name of the streets in Hong Kong, China, is clearer than any gangster film. Through these technologies, the director makes the audience see a sense of Hong Kong scene that is infinitely close to the real world. The effective control of the sense of scene allows the audience to directly approach the Hong Kong street where the two forces of police and bandits are fighting, and every position is very clear. The whole story does not even have the words "pure fiction", which shows how determined the director is to restore the scene. At the time of the final battle, Hong Kong's Central was blown to pieces by the underworld, which led to ground subsidence and traffic paralysis. This film even has some meaning of a 3D disaster film[15]。(commented by Beijing Evening News)
"Storm" has all kinds of problems in Hong Kong films, such as old bridges, sensationalism, rigidity, weak villains, etc.The biggest problem lies in the structure. Lin Jiadong, one after the other, cannot turn white for love, which should be the main line of the film.It is estimated that in consideration of Andy Lau's selling power, the scenes have been diluted. The lines of old Liu and the undercover, the lines of transformation at the edge of good and evil, etc., have robbed a large number of scenes, so that the villains have been assigned. As a functional role, Lv Liangwei jumped out abruptly. If Lao Liu existed as a deputy, the completion of the film would be much higher, but this is not important. In fact, old Hong Kong films often have similar problems. Gunfight scenes often have a big fight at the end of the film.Either the villain suddenly becomes crazy, or a bandit comes to fight for no reason[16]。(Sina Entertainment Review)
The film's fierce gunfight scene and the creativity of "blow up Central" still refreshed the expressiveness of the police bandit film. The film's two major supervisors joined hands with "Storm". Andy Lau and Jiang Zhiqiang had a clear division of labor: one focused on quality control, the other dominated the commercial market, and the audience might be the biggest beneficiary. One of the major selling points of the film is that Andy Lau, who is also in three positions, "performed 60 minutes of non-stop fighting action drama", thus raising the expectations of "The Storm" to a higher level[10]。(Comprehensive review of First Financial Weekly, Southern Metropolis Daily and Beijing News)
