Northeast Democratic Coalition Aviation School

Shortly after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, the Party Central Committee decided to use some airports, factories and aircraft left by the Japanese invaders in the Northeast to establish aviation schools in the Northeast. At the beginning of September 1945, according to the requirements of the Central Committee, Wang Bi, Chang Qiankun, the head of the aviation team of the General Staff of the Eighth Route Army, led more than 30 aviation technical cadres from Yan'an to the northeast to recruit personnel and collect aviation equipment in batches to prepare for the establishment of aviation schools. At the end of September, significant progress was made in the preparation for the establishment of the aviation school. Under the leadership of the former Japanese invasion brigade in Liaodong, Lin Miyilong (Chinese name: Lin Baoyi), the captain of the brigade, surrendered. A total of 17 pilots, 24 machinists, 72 machinists and more than 180 other ground support personnel were recruited, and 46 aircraft and 130 engines were obtained. The Northeast People's Autonomous Army reorganized it into an aviation team, later expanded it into the Northeast Democratic Allied Army Aviation Corps, and moved from Liaoyang to Tonghua. On March 1, 1946, the aviation technical cadres selected by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Northeast Democratic Allied Army Aviation Corps jointly established the Northeast Democratic Allied Army Aviation School in Tonghua, Jilin, commonly known as the "Northeast Old Aviation School". [6]

Northeast People's Liberation Army Aviation School

In April 1946, the Kuomintang army approached Siping. In order to be safe, the superior decided to move the Northeast Democratic Allied Army Aviation School to Mudanjiang Hailang Airport. In the autumn of 1946, the Kuomintang reactionaries attacked the Northeast Liberated Area on a large scale, and the school was forced to move from Mudanjiang to Dong'an City (now Mishan City). At the same time, Qianzhen Airport and Tangyuan Airport in Huanan have been added. At the beginning of 1947, the Party Central Committee sent 29 people from Yan'an, including Fang Ziyi, who had learned to fly, and Liu Shanben and other Kuomintang air force insurgents to Dong'an. Later, there were many Kuomintang air force pilots and ground crew uprisings, and they went to work in schools one after another. The strength of the school continued to grow. In January 1948, with the change of the Northeast war situation, the Northeast Democratic Allied Army Aviation School was renamed the Northeast People's Liberation Army Aviation School. [6]

PLA Aviation School

In late March 1948, the war situation in Northeast China improved. The Northeast People's Liberation Army Aviation School moved back to Mudanjiang, with a total of 1979 people. In March 1949, in order to strengthen the school and establish the People's Air Force, the Party Central Committee moved the school from Mudanjiang to Changchun, and transferred personnel from the school to Beijing to form the Aviation Bureau of the Central Military Commission. At the same time, the school set up a combat technology training team, which governs a bombing transport team and a destroyer squadron. In May 1949, the school was renamed as the PLA Aviation School. [6]

PLA Air Force Aviation University

On October 6, 1949, the Central Military Commission approved the plan to establish six new aviation schools, and sent some leaders and technical backbones from the schools, respectively in Harbin (the first bomber aviation school), Changchun (the second bomber aviation school), Jinzhou (the first destroyer aviation school), Shenyang (the second destroyer aviation school), Jinan (the third destroyer aviation school), Nanyuan (the fourth destroyer aviation school) Mudanjiang (Mudanjiang Aviation School) established a new aviation school. Among them, Mudanjiang Aviation School is formed by the remaining personnel left in Mudanjiang after the reorganization of the old northeast aviation school, and the school site is located in the old Mudanjiang aviation school site. In December 1949, the Central Military Commission issued an order to unify the naming of aviation schools, and Mudanjiang Aviation School was renamed the Seventh Aviation School of the People's Liberation Army. [9]
In January 1952, the Seventh Aviation School of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was renamed the Seventh Aviation School of the Air Force; In June 1986, it was renamed the Seventh Air Force Flight Academy. [9] On June 9, 2004, the former Changchun Flight Academy of the Air Force, the Seventh Flight Academy of the Air Force and the Second Aviation Academy of the Air Force were merged into the Air Force Aviation University of the People's Liberation Army of China. [3] On April 28, 2012, the 13th Bengbu Air Force Flight Academy was incorporated into the People's Liberation Army Air Force Aviation University, and became the Bengbu Campus of the People's Liberation Army Air Force Aviation University.
