Since November 2004, Thames Higher Education (THE) andQS（Quacquarelli Symonds）Cooperate to publish the common world university rankings, namelyTHE-QS World University Ranking, has a wide range of influence.Later, after the launch of the ranking in 2009, the two officially disbanded and began to publish their respective rankings, which was called“Times Higher Education World University Ranking（Times Higher Education World University Rankings）”[4]。

In 2012, the ranking of universities with school age less than 50 years was released for the first time: 2012 Young University Ranking（Young Rankings 2012）。
On March 10, 2013, the Thames Higher Education Asian University Ranking was released for the first time（THE Asia University Rankings 2013）[15]。
TES Global
In July 2013, TPG Capital acquired TSL Education from Charterhouse for 400 million pounds. Later, TSL Education was renamed TES Global (TES is the abbreviation of Times Educational Supplement).[16-17]
On June 18, 2014 (London time), The Times Higher Education released the 2014 Asian University Rankings.[18]
On October 1, 2014, The Times Higher Education released the 2015 World University Rankings.[19]
In April 2017, Thames Higher Education published the 2017 global rankings of young universities. A total of three Hong Kong universities entered the top 20, all of which rose.[21]

In December 2018, TES Global was sold toProvidence Equity Partners LLC （Providence Equity Partners）。In March 2019, Thames Higher Education was acquired by the private equity firm Inflexion, and Thames Higher Education was separated from TES Global into an independent entity.[27-28]

On June 27, 2019, the Thames Higher Education 2019 Young University Ranking results were announced.351 universities from 60 countries are on the list.[35]
On March 2, 2022, Thames Higher Education issued a statement condemningRussiaintrusionUkraineAnd pointed out a series of measures to be taken for its world and regional ranking.These measures include ensuring that the status of Ukrainian universities is maintained, even if they are unable to submit data, providing news about Ukrainian higher education outside the pay wall, not releasing profiles of Russian universities, and stopping commercial activities, including branding and promotion with Russia.Thames Higher Education said it would not remove any Russian institutions from its ranking.[43-44]
On May 11, 2022, Times Higher Education (The) released the third edition of China's disciplinary rating.Renmin University of China (hereinafter referred to as "NPC") and Nanjing University (hereinafter referred to as "Nanjing University"), which were rumored to withdraw from the international university ranking, are still on the subject rating list.After the rating of this discipline was released, there was a question on the Internet. A person in charge of Thames Higher Education in Greater China said that one of the data sources of this discipline rating is the world university ranking data released in September 2021, and other data sources include Thames Higher Education questionnaire survey and bibliometric data.After the release of Thames Higher Education China Discipline Rating, it raised questions online.[42]
