Comet Ikeya Kwan (C/1965 S1) is a Japanese amateur astronomerShibuyaandGuan MianDiscovered on September 18, 1965Aperiodic comet, October 21, 1965Perihelion(It is about 450000 kilometers away from the sun's surface) and its luminosity is expected to increase significantly. On the scheduled day, the comet passed through the perihelion at noon Japanese time. As expected, the comet was unusually bright in the sky, with an apparent magnitude of minus 11. It can also be seen in the daytime next to the sun, so it is one of the brightest and spectacular comets in the past millennium.[1]
The comet split into three pieces before passing the perihelion, with roughly the same trajectory. The bright tail can be seen in the morning of the end of October.By the beginning of 1966, the distance between it and the sun was getting farther and farther, and its brightness also became dim.
Chigu · Guan Comet belongs toKreutz Sungrazers (Kruetz)Sun grazing comet, one of many pieces of debris that split off because it was too close to the sun. It broke up in 1106.
It is estimated that of the three fragments of Comet Ikeya Guan, the first is expected to return after 880 years, and the second is 1100 years.
