Power system terminology
Also called sensing element or sensing element, sometimes called primary element. A component or device that directly responds to the measured variable and converts it into a form suitable for measurement. There is a certain relationship between its input variable and the output signal of the detection element. For example, thermocouple, thermal resistance, etc. [1]
