Established in 1955, Beijing Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute is an early and large-scale comprehensive rubber research and design institution in China. It is an approved awarding unit for master's degree in materials science and enjoys high reputation and popularity at home and abroad. In the past 30 years, BAIC has gradually changed from a pure scientific research institution to a scientific research and operation institution. In 1999, it was listed as one of the first batch of 242 institutions transformed into scientific and technological enterprises. Now it belongs to China National Academy of Chemical Sciences of China National Chemical Corporation.
