China Daily Online, May 23 (Reporter Pan Yiqiao) On the evening of May 22, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China held the "Night of Education, Culture, Arts and Tourism in Uzbekistan", attracting many envoys to China, media representatives, and representatives of Chinese culture, arts, education, tourism and other fields to participate in the event.

In an exclusive interview with chinadaily.com.cn, the consul of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China Yakhyayev Bober said that from January 23 to 25, 2024, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will pay a state visit to China. The leaders of China and Uzbekistan pointed out in the talks that deepening cooperation in the cultural field is of great significance to the friendly relations and mutual understanding between the Uzbek people and the Chinese people.

On May 19, 2023, the first "Central Asia China" Summit was held in Xi'an, where the "Central Asia China People's Year of Culture and Art" was launched. Under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the two countries' cultural days were successfully held in Uzbekistan in October 2023 and in China in January 2024.

Uzbekistan has world famous tourism centers such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Shiva, and is one of the first countries to highly appreciate and support the "Belt and Road" initiative. Uzbekistan actively seeks cooperation with China to develop international tourism. At present, the Uzbek government has created special conditions for Chinese tourists and simplified visa procedures. From March 1, 2021, Uzbekistan will implement a visa free system for Chinese citizens for a period of 10 days. Touring Chinese citizens over 55 years old can stay in China for 30 days, and Chinese citizens under 16 years old can stay in Uzbekistan for 90 days.

At present, there are 16 direct flights between Uzbekistan and China every week. Consul Yahyaev Bauer said that by the end of 2024, Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of flights to 20 flights a week. (interns Lu Ziheng and Li Yixiong also contributed)
