[China.com industry ] Recently, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Vehicle Product Recall and the Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Vehicle Product Recall.
Recall scope:
(1) From February 5, 2021, a total of 7044 imported Discovery 2019-2020 (parameters | inquiry) vehicles produced from November 28, 2018 to August 31, 2020 will be recalled;
(2) From December 12, 2020, a total of 33980 domestic 2020 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque micro hybrid models produced from April 18, 2019 to October 14, 2020 will be recalled.
Reason for recall:
Some imported 2019-2020 Land Rover vehicles within the scope of this recall found that due to manufacturing process problems, the battery grounding bolts may be damaged, resulting in poor grounding between the battery grounding bolts and the chassis. In extreme cases, the vehicle power may be interrupted, which may cause the vehicle to fail to start or the engine to stop while driving, and affect the power steering, brake power assistance and other functions, with potential safety hazards.
Some domestic 2020 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque micro hybrid models within the scope of this recall may have a short circuit in the 12V circuit of the DC to DC converter due to the internal semiconductor transistor (MOSFET) fault of the DC to DC converter caused by the accidental overload of the mild hybrid electric (MHEV) electrical system. In extreme cases, the heat accumulation inside the DC DC converter may occur, which may lead to a vehicle fire, with potential safety hazards.
terms of settlement:
Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will install a new battery grounding bolt for some 2019-2020 Land Rover Discovery vehicles imported within the recall scope free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover Co., Ltd. will upgrade the control software of the relevant modules of the DC DC converter for some domestic 2020 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque micro hybrid models within the recall scope free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards. This version of software adds the monitoring of the internal short circuit of the DC-DC converter. After the short circuit occurs, the system will automatically cut off the 48V side power supply of the DC-DC converter, disconnect the circuit circuit, and prevent heat accumulation.
Emergency disposal measures:
Before the vehicle is recalled for maintenance, when the above short circuit fault occurs, the instrument will display the warning information of the charging system. After the user finds the relevant warning information, he/she should immediately stop the car in a safe area and turn off the engine and contact the manufacturer's service hotline.
