Recently, the "Titian International Portrait Competition" exhibition was unveiled at the Monterico Arts Center, the landmark cultural heritage of Cadori, Italy. Du Jianqi, a Hebei painter and the leader of the Shijiazhuang Du Jianqi Artists Studio, won the third prize in this contest for his sketch portrait works "Purity" and "Girl in Red". He expressed his feelings about winning the prize yesterday in Italy.

Du Jianqi, whose ancestral home is Chengde, graduated from the oil painting major of the Fine Arts Department of Hebei Normal University and the master course seminar of the mural department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is now a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Mural Painting Society, and a professor and master's supervisor of Hebei Normal University. Du Jianqi was born in oil painting. He was selected into the national art exhibition twice by virtue of murals. He is also good at sculpture and watercolor. His works have been collected by many domestic and foreign art institutions. However, he has long been fond of sketch, especially the sketch portrait works. In his hands, sketch is not only a basic skill, but also an independent painting with rich expressive force.

In 2014, Du Jianqi held his first sketch exhibition in Beijing, which caused great shock in the industry. In May 2021, "Du Jianqi and his protagonists - Du Jianqi's Sketch Art Exhibition" was held in Shijiazhuang Art Museum, where nearly 100 sketch portraits created by Du Jianqi were exhibited, causing widespread concern. Some insiders commented that Du Jianqi was a great creator, and his sketch art brought people a strong sense of amazement. Another art critic said that Du Jianqi introduced new painting materials into the sketch, which also greatly extended the creation of sketch.

Du Jianqi's award-winning sketch portraits "Pure" and "Girl in Red" were created in 2014, which epitomized his profound skill and unique charm in sketch portraits creation. His creation is "refined" in content, with emphasis and trade-offs, and depicts the inner world of the characters in one stroke; He achieved "crossover" in materials and techniques, and these two award-winning works are both "paper-based and comprehensive materials". Du Jianqi not only drew sketches on paper, but also used cardboard boxes, boards and cloth. In addition to the pencil and charcoal commonly used for drawing, he also does not refuse propylene, toner and watercolor.

It is understood that the "Titian International Portrait Competition" is an international art activity supervised and supported by the Cardori Municipal Government and the Titian Foundation. Since the global collection of works, we have received works submitted by artists, art school teachers and students, and art lovers from nearly 30 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, etc. As the first global art competition named after Titian, held by his former residence, Cardori, more than 500 years after Titian's birth, this activity has attracted much attention. The "Titian International Portrait Competition" exhibition will last until May 19, local time. During this period, the organizers also carried out a series of international exchanges and art discussions.
