About Altay

Altay region, located in the north of Xinjiang, is a border area inhabited by Kazakh, Han and other ethnic groups. "Altay" is the local minority language, meaning "Jinshan". It is connected to Kazakhstan and Russia in the northwest, and Mongolia in the east. The border is 1205 kilometers long. Altay City, Burqin County, Habahe County, Jimunai County, Fuhai County, Fuyun County, Qinghe County, as well as ten regiments of the Tenth Agricultural Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and relevant units of the autonomous region in Altay are under the jurisdiction of the region, with a total area of 117800 square kilometers, accounting for 7% of the total area of Xinjiang, and a total population of 594600. Altay region is a place where many ethnic groups live together, including 36 ethnic groups, including Kazak, Han, Hui, Uygur, Mongolian, etc. There are 335600 ethnic minorities, accounting for 56.45% of the total population.   &
