From the beginning when he climbed into the door crane operating room, his hands and feet trembled. Now he has become one of the most skilled door crane drivers in Hangzhou Public Works Section of the railway. After 1995, Wang Junge said that he should thank himself for not giving up and not giving up over the years.

Hundreds of tons of "colossus" in his hands

At noon, the base of Hangzhou Railway Maintenance Depot was busy. The early summer sun made the metal shell of the gantry crane cab slightly hot. Wang Junge, the gantry crane driver, is concentrating on operating the handle, pushing the "giant" in front of him to shuttle and hoist special materials for railway maintenance and repair. On the ground 20 meters below the cab, the workers are carrying out material loading and unloading and uncoupling operations in an orderly manner. "Move forward 5 meters, hoist in place..." With the accurate call and operation on the ground and in the air, new railway switches, sleepers and rails are hoisted onto the train smoothly. These railway materials will be transported by rail cars from the base of Hangzhou Railway Maintenance Depot to various railway construction and maintenance stations in the province for timely replacement of damaged rail equipment, to ensure that the railway equipment is in good health and to escort the safety, stability and smoothness of the railway "artery".

Wang Junge, a 27 year old gantry crane driver from Quzhou, is one of the few post-95s in the Hangzhou Railway Works Section. He joined the company in 2017 and is now the operator of this "monster" with hundreds of tons.

The Hangzhou Railway Maintenance Depot Base is responsible for the transportation of materials for maintenance and repair of nearly 1800km high and common speed railway in the province. The average number of trains operated each month is nearly 200. The punctual operation of each rail car is inseparable from the precise lifting operation of the crane driver. From the novice Xiaobai to the skilled completion of the railway gantry crane operation, Wang Junge has made many unimaginable efforts.

The nearly 20m high gantry crane cab is the commanding height of the base. From the bottom up, I don't feel very high, but when I really get to the top and look down at the whole station, I can really feel that my legs are weak and my palms are sweating. Wang Junge is no exception.

However, overcoming psychological fear is only the basic requirement to complete the work. How to make this "big guy" of hundreds of tons obedient in his own hands, and finally achieve the integration of human and machine, lifting weight as light as possible, really made Wang Junge spend a lot of hard work.

Earnestly train the true ability to tame "giant"

"After obtaining the skill certificate, you can work independently. However, due to the heavy weight of the gantry crane itself, it will have inertia when moving. In addition, due to the limitations of the cab's perspective and other reasons, there are often problems such as the distance between the lifting object and the destination after parking or the height of the lifting object is too high, and it takes a lot of time to adjust back and forth." Wang Junge was aware of this problem shortly after starting work.

Find the causes of problems in books and learn theoretical knowledge; Look and learn more from colleagues and teachers around you, and understand the ways and methods to solve practical problems; Coupled with repeated practice in his spare time... Wang Junge's attitude of facing difficulties directly was seen by his colleagues.

In our spare time, we can always see Wang Junge in the cab of the gantry crane. From various inspections to removing the wind protection device, it needs to be completed item by item: hook up the steel wire rope, set the goal for yourself, so that the steel wire rope can cross the obstacles at an appropriate height, and accurately fall into the target point. "This requires an accurate judgment of the height of all obstacles in the middle and the position of the target point. If the wire rope touches the obstacles, it means that the lifting objects will collide, which is very dangerous. I will sum up the experience and lessons, and even scold myself." Wang Junge said that every failure experience and every failure to make every effort must be firmly borne in mind. "Even if the wire rope is not touched, it will take several or even dozens of times to succeed, and one success can motivate me to continue to work hard for the next success. Such additional training usually lasts until the vision has begun to be unclear," said Wang Junge.

Wang Junge learned a lot from his teacher Fu and his colleagues with high skills, and practiced again and again. For example, in the process of lifting, according to the speed of the gantry crane and the status of the lifting object, follow the vehicle at the right time to make the lifting object stop stably and accurately above the destination. When the hoisting destination is far away, Wang Junge will calibrate the front reference object in advance according to visual observation, and stop according to the reference object, so that the hoisted object can be in a straight line with the destination. Just run the trolley to make the hoisted object stop stably above the destination. It not only saves time and improves efficiency, but also avoids the shaking of lifting objects caused by the short distance operation of the cart, reducing safety risks.

After nearly half a year of training, Wang Junge not only can get up and down the gantry crane cab skillfully, but also has practiced the "unique skill" of accurately operating the gantry crane in the air with zero deviation, greatly improving the loading and unloading efficiency of railway maintenance materials.

Shen Binwei, director of the transportation workshop of the Hangzhou Public Works Section of the railway, said that as a special type of work in the railway system, the railway gantry crane driver needs not only to master skilled technology, but also to have a strong sense of responsibility and strong perseverance, as well as tacit cooperation with the rail car driver. In the next step, they will continue to strengthen the training of young skilled personnel, focus on the improvement of "theory+practice" comprehensive capacity, and let more young people contribute to the high-quality development of the railway during the "14th Five Year Plan" period and the construction of a modern provincial transportation system.
