Today, with the rapid development of science and technology, life has become more convenient and open. From Uber to Aribnb, to the bike sharing that can be seen everywhere on the street today, we have been unconsciously surrounded by the sharing economy, and enjoy the many conveniences it brings.

In this economic development trend, business schools can no longer stay in the past. How to keep up with the pace of the sharing economy and explore a new way of development for college business schools is worth pondering. Recently, the School of Economics and Management of Beijing Jiaotong University held the 4th International Advisory Committee Meeting, where Chinese and foreign experts gathered at Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center to discuss the development of business school under the sharing economy.

Rapidly developing sharing economy

"Although the concept of sharing economy does not necessarily come from China, it has developed rapidly in China, and it has also brought great impact on China's economic development." At the meeting, Li Pumin, Secretary General of the National Development and Reform Commission, analyzed that sharing economy has saved resources and improved efficiency while developing productivity, In addition, in the process of development, new relations of production have emerged to promote the development of productive forces.

In fact, the concept of sharing has existed for a long time. For example, in the school library, books can be borrowed and reused by people. This is one of the forms of sharing, but such forms of sharing are often limited by time and space. The arrival of the Internet era has gradually changed this situation, providing a new and more convenient possibility for sharing. Uber, Airbnb, Alibaba and other sharing economy platforms have emerged, making sharing and profit-making connected, and sharing economy has also appeared in the public's view.

"Now that the Internet has entered the 3.0 era, it has reached the goal of" everyone connected "and" mobile connected ", making the sharing economy possible. This is also the reason why shared cars, crowdsourcing logistics, social e-commerce, and omni channel e-commerce are all created. However, the development of the Internet has no end, and this new economic trend has just begun." Xue Xiaolin, vice president of Amazon Global, expressed his views at the meeting.

In China, the development of sharing economy is full of explosive leap forward development. It seems that Didi and sharing bicycles entered our lives overnight, and various platforms of sharing economy took root in China's economic soil. Therefore, as the cradle of cultivating talents in related fields, business schools in colleges and universities have to keep pace with the times and make changes.

Win win cooperation in the international situation

With the development of the times, many old things are constantly being subverted and replaced by new things. How to develop its own advantages in such an environment and play an irreplaceable role is a problem that business schools need to think about in the era of sharing economy.

"If the only function of a business school is to provide courses, it may not be viable in the future, or it may be subverted. Because many popular online professors now give lectures through MOOC or other forms, and they are also very popular." Zhou Lin, president of Antai School of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiaotong University, said at the meeting that under such circumstances, In addition to courses, business schools in colleges and universities need to think about the value of students that cannot be easily replaced, so that they can continue to do a good job in business schools.

In addition, Zhou Lin also stressed the importance of in-depth cooperation and exchange between business schools. In his opinion, many business schools are now emphasizing internationalization, but it is difficult for a business school of a single university to provide students with a full set of international experience, and it is often to take students to travel abroad for a quick look.

"You can build partnerships between different business schools to generate values far beyond the curriculum. For example, you can form partnerships with business schools in international universities and develop many in-depth and content international training programs. If you really develop internationalization in depth, such values cannot be replaced by others," Zhou Lin said.

Deakin University in Australia has launched short-term exchange projects with universities in the UK, Japan, South Korea and other countries, aiming at the characteristics that students do not like long-term projects, so that students from both sides can work together in local enterprises and cooperate with each other in two weeks.

"China Business School can also provide some short-term exchange activities for overseas business school students, so that overseas students can come to China to work with local students in enterprise internship exchanges," said Shen Wei, vice president of Deakin University in Australia.

Work hard to solve practical problems

General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that the majority of scientific and technological workers should write their papers on the land of the motherland and apply scientific and technological achievements to the great cause of modernization. For business schools in colleges and universities, it is one of their important tasks to solve the challenges facing China's economy under the current sharing economy.

"The School of Economics and Management should work hard to solve practical problems. This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, and the achievements of China's economic development in the past 40 years are obvious to all. However, there is not much research and refining on China's economy to form laws, textbooks, and theoretical contributions." Ma Zhengwu, chairman of China Chengtong Holding Group Co., Ltd., analyzed at the meeting, Since China's reform and opening up, it has been learning western theories, but how China's reform and opening up practice has become a theory has actually raised a major problem for economists, including the School of Economics and Management. "Especially, it is more important to conduct in-depth research on practical problems and make theoretical explanations in combination with the actual situation of China's economy."

Ma Zhengwu suggested that business schools in colleges and universities should take management, law and other issues in the current economic field as research topics, introduce them into classroom teaching, and conduct investigation and research based on actual problems.

Long Bowang, Chairman of ACAPITAL Fund Company, agreed. He believes that business schools should conduct in-depth research, not only involving the original production relations, but also involving emerging production relations. "Business schools need to systematically sort out the sharing economy, including its origin, concept connotation and extension, future development trend, commercial application and platform construction, and especially spend great energy on studying the problems in the development of China's sharing economy, as well as the focus of improving policies and norms in the future."

Although the rapid development of the sharing economy is gratifying, whether the relevant supporting management system and regulatory rules can keep up with and assist in time also requires vigilance.

Xue Xiaolin said that China's economy is developing rapidly, and the whole social structure, including its management system and legal system, should also keep up. The business schools of colleges and universities have the responsibility to consider these issues and make suggestions for the reform of the management system and legal system under the sharing economy.

Seize the new opportunities of the "Belt and Road"

In the view of many domestic and foreign experts attending the meeting, the proposal of the "Belt and Road" initiative is also a good manifestation of the sharing concept. It has promoted the communication and exchange of relevant countries, and has brought new opportunities for many related disciplines, including business schools. How to grasp these opportunities needs careful analysis.

At the meeting, Vince Ghosn, chairman of Indonesia International Research and Development Center, shared his views on the development of business schools in colleges and universities under the "Belt and Road" initiative: "I think the sharing economy is not only the sharing of resources in the academic community, but also the sharing of resources among academia, the public, the government and enterprises. What we need to consider is how to make the Belt and Road Initiative more pragmatic. "

In his opinion, in the process of promoting the "Belt and Road" initiative, China will have many projects with Indonesia. However, due to the lack of feasibility studies on these projects, there are still questions about which projects are feasible, or which are socially sustainable and environmentally sustainable, which means that the academic community needs to help with analysis and screening. Business schools naturally play an important role in the economic field.

For the "Belt and Road" initiative, business schools can not only train the required talents and solve relevant problems, but also play a role in publicity and promotion.

Long Bowang said that there may still be some people in the western world who do not understand the "Belt and Road" initiative enough, and even some media reports are distorted. Colleges and universities have the responsibility and obligation to deliver true and correct information. "At present, only the embassy is carrying out the propaganda work of the" Belt and Road ", and colleges and universities can actually play more roles in this aspect and accumulate more cases for propaganda," he said.
