This is an important milestone in the discipline construction of our college.

Discipline evaluation is the overall level evaluation of the first level disciplines with the right to award doctoral and master's degrees by the Academic Degrees Center in accordance with the Academic Degrees Award and Talent Cultivation Discipline Catalog issued by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education. Applied Economics:

This subject originates from the Railway Business Management College of Beijing Jiaotong University, which has a history of more than 100 years, and the later developed disciplines of railway economy, transportation economy and industrial economy. In 1981, it was granted the first batch of master's degree and doctor's degree in 1986. It is the first doctor's degree program in economics set up in China's universities of science and engineering. In 1987, it became one of the first batch of national key disciplines and the only national key discipline in China with transportation economy as the main direction. In 2001, it was again rated as a national key discipline. In 2007, the second level discipline of industrial economics of Beijing Jiaotong University was rated as a national key discipline. In 2009, the university ranked 10th in the national discipline ranking. All the universities with the right to grant doctorate degrees in the first level discipline of applied economics in this assessment ranked in the top 21. Beijing Jiaotong University ranked first in the top 21 universities with a second level discipline of industrial economics. In 2012, applied economics was added as a key first level discipline in Beijing and ranked 12th in the third round of discipline evaluation.
