The Logistics Management and Engineering Department of Beijing Jiaotong University originated from the first undergraduate material management major set up in 1946 to train management talents for railway supply logistics in China. In 2007, the undergraduate major in logistics management of Beijing Jiaotong University was rated as one of the first national characteristic specialty construction sites. The research of Logistics Management Department involves agricultural products, medicine, energy, transportation, manufacturing and other industries. Research and consultation for governments and enterprises at all levels involve regional logistics development strategy, logistics park planning, logistics tracking and logistics informatization, urban distribution and urban logistics policy. During the "12th Five Year Plan" period, it undertook nearly 20 major, key and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 EU 7th Framework Project, and more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects such as the doctoral program fund and the Beijing Social Science Fund.
