Soy milk will also affect the absorption of drugs. For example, the protein in soybeans will hinder the absorption of iron by the human body. If you drink soy milk while taking iron supplements or drugs (such as ferrous sulfate oral liquid), the absorption rate of iron will be greatly reduced, which will make it difficult for the iron agent to fully play its role.
Soy milk contains acidic substances. If taken together with acidic drugs such as aspirin and vitamin C, it will stimulate gastric acid secretion and cause stomach discomfort. If taken with alkaline drugs (such as calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium trisilicate, etc.), the efficacy of the drug will be reduced.
Therefore, after drinking soy milk, it is better to wait 30 minutes before taking medicine to avoid affecting the absorption and utilization of soy milk and drugs. If you are taking antibiotics, the interval between taking the medicine and drinking soy milk should be more than 1 hour.
