Disease profile

  • Disease name: gastritis
  • Location: abdomen
  • Department: Department of Gastroenterology
  • Symptoms and signs: acute gastritis is characterized by epigastric discomfort, pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and black stool. The course of chronic gastritis is prolonged, and most of them have no obvious symptoms and signs. Generally, only indigestion symptoms such as fullness after meals, pantothenic acid, belching, and irregular abdominal pain can be seen. The diagnosis mainly depends on gastroscopy and biopsy of gastric mucosa.

Etiology of gastritis

It is now clear that Hp infection is the main cause of chronic gastritis, and some people call it Hp related gastritis. However, other physical, chemical and biological harmful factors can also cause the disease if they repeatedly act on susceptible people for a long time. Salmonella, halophilic bacteria and pathogenic Escherichia coli can cause acute gastritis.

The older you are, the worse the function and "resistance" of gastric mucosa will be, which will be easily damaged by external adverse factors.

Too cold and overheated food and drinks, strong tea, coffee, strong liquor, irritant condiments, too coarse food and drugs (especially non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and indomethacin) can stimulate the gastric mucosa and destroy the mucosal barrier.

The foreign body in the stomach or the radiation therapy of gastric stone and stomach area can be used as exogenous stimulation to cause this disease. Emotional fluctuation, stress state and allergic reaction caused by various factors in the body can cause disease as endogenous stimulus.
