Introduction of lecturer:

Fan Yingling is currently a professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the University of Minnesota and the director of the Global Public Transport Innovation Project. It mainly studies innovative transportation and urban planning schemes aimed at public health and social equity. At present, he is the co editor of the English journal Journal of Transport and Land Use (SSCI) and Urban Studies, the editorial board member of the International Journal of Sustainable Transportation (SSCI) and Transportation Letters, and the manager of the World Society for Transport and Land Use Research. The awards include the University of Minnesota Presidential Community Participation Finalist Award; University of Minnesota Young Distinguished Professor Award; Patricia F. Waller Award of the International Transport Research Board (TRB) and the Outstanding Paper Award of the TRB Pedestrian Transport Committee.
 
In recent years, the research mainly focuses on two directions. The first is to explore traffic and urban planning schemes beneficial to public health by studying the relationship between urban built environment and residents' daily behavior. The second is to study how to promote social equity and balanced development of regional economy through the construction of urban public transport corridors. The latest research projects include: as an international expert on public transport corridors, conducting field surveys in major cities in the United States to explore the current situation and future of the revival of public transport in the United States; Served as the joint chief investigator in the US Science Foundation project with a funding amount of 12 million US dollars, and led the team to use smart phone technology to measure the emotional experience and subjective well-being of residents in the urban environment. In addition to the National Science Foundation of the United States, the research was also funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, the United States Department of Transportation, the World Bank, and several international foundations.

The new social development trend urgently requires planners and decision-makers to understand the relationship between transportation and well-being, and then carry out targeted planning scheme design, and formulate urban development strategies to effectively improve residents' well-being. Professor Fan Yingling of the University of Minnesota will report in detail the survey results of travel well-being of Shenzhen office workers in cooperation with Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning and Design Center, as well as the latest visualization work progress of the U.S. team on travel behavior and travel well-being characteristics.
